Airbnb host Julia* rarely waits long for her next guest. The studio attached to her Tamarama home is pretty much booked out from September to March – the entire time it's available, she says. "[Neighbouring] Bondi has a pretty bad reputation in terms of loud backpackers ... Also, there's really no hotels in Tamarama or Bronte and the beaches and the coastal walk are obviously big attractions," she said. One in five homes in this popular surf spot is listed on short-term home letting website Airbnb, according to a Fairfax Media analysis of figures from the data visualisation tool Inside Airbnb and the Bureau of Statistics. The data was collected from the Airbnb website in December 2015, according to Inside Airbnb. The two sites are not affiliated. I used to catch the Manly ferry to work-loved it. Only thing I miss about Sydney-full of try hards and Westies.

Always wanted to see a game @ Manly. Brookvale. Personally, a bit further north suits me just fine, say the strip between Curl Curl and Narrabeen area. Ah, that was a past love, well gone now.

People who know nothing about Australia always think Sydney is the be all and end all. Carry on about the harbour etc etc. I trained in the Sydney Harbour, and trust me, it is anything but picturesque.

Manly is over priced and over run with tourists. The only good thing about it is Brooky Oval-went to many home games. Narrabeen is great wildoats-that's where I lived

I have an old Federation house in Manly and things have changed over the years I guess in the area, but that property I will never sell. My dad helped me to do it up and it was a labour of love, leadlight windows, polished floorboards, restored it back to its former glory over ten years and that cost a quid. We used to scout junk shops for old furniture to fit in with the style of the house and old windows, such memories.
I think most things are overpriced in Ozland, Sydney especially with property.
Melbourne people have a thing with Sydneysiders. A bit like Shanghai vs HK. Every city has its charm.

To a doc, upkeep is expensive, old houses always are. It was an old dump when I got it but I like the beach location and mum is up a few roads.
