This was near my office this morning, but didn't realise what what going on as it was outside and before lunch. Has anyone else had encounters with wild boars? What do you do? One fell through the roof of a kid's clothing shop in a mall last year here. Amazing there are wild boars in HK hongkong.coconuts.co/2016/01/13/small-wild-boar-evades-capture-3-hours-outside-5-star-hotel-admiraltyOne of Hong Kong's wiley wild boars made a run for it today after evading capture by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) for hours. The little piggie, which is estimated to be a rather small specimen at only three feet long, was reported to the police after staff of the 5-star Conrad hotel in Admiralty spotted it running around in the grass outside at approximately 7:45 am. According to Oriental Daily, members of the AFCD attempted to capture the rogue runt by trapping it in a net. After around three hours of the rather tedious but hilarious-sounding wild boar chase, the savvy squealer reportedly leapt over the net and made a run for it towards the British Council. Somebody should tell it about David Cameron's (alleged) porcine preferences before it gets roped into a little Netflix and swill...you know all about the story of DC's experimental encounter with a pig I'm assuming. AFCD and police officers reportedly left Admiralty at around 11am after searching the surrounding hillside to no avail. At the moment, we cannot speak to the fate of the little boar, but we hope it is safe and frolicking freely, far away from the British Council.

My parents have a place in the South of France and the boars will destroy the garden while they are away. Tasty critters though!

They do indeed, this was hilarious as it's downtown in one of the busiest places in HK. Last thing you expect to see is a wild boar running around the Conrad heading for gov offices.

Has anyone else had encounters with wild boars? What do you do? Yes and nothing. They are pretty much harmless unless you’re a property owner. Most property owners (I know) look at wild hogs/pigs/boar/etc. as nuisance animals and want them off their property (use a hog wire fence to keep most off your property) because they root (harming pastures) and while rooting they can deposit invasive seeds. We’ll request hunters to shoot any hogs they see on the property while out. You can hunt hogs year round in Florida,……There is no season for them. Some people will trap and feed them for months before making a venison/pork sausage. They are and can be a pain: myfwc.com/hunting/by-species/wild-hog/www.fieldandstream.com/articles/other/recipes/2004/01/perfect-venison-sausage

I'm overdue a trip into Indian Country for a bit of wild boar curry, and maybe a night of Tom Jones on the way home. Or heavy metal rock'n'roll, depending on the day of the week
