Maintenance ?????????? I didn't think that word existed in the Thai vocabulary. ‘Maintenance Fee’ for All Foreign Tourists Proposed by Tourism GovernorThe idiot behind this says: in the Voice TV article, Yuthasak dismissed any concern the fee would adversely affect tourism, saying many countries already had similar policies.
“I believe it won’t affect [tourism] that much, because at the present time many countries already collect this fee in subtle ways,” he said without elaborating.
How about calling it something else besides a "Maintenance Fee", which would be a bit more subtle.

I think we all groaned in disbelief when we saw that proposal.
And it's a novel concept to charge tourists up front to maintain Thai assets.

Have they not mentioned the many 'Pay to View' destinations are actually being 'non-Thai' funded now as the non-Thai pays often a fee double that the Thai (or ex-pat with a drivers license) pays.
As for the tourist spots where is no fee, the amount of Western people I see is usually about the number 1 ... me.
