I was thinking so far, so normal - until this line:
"But for anyone thinking of dropping round for a cuppa beware: Ms. Richards asks guest to bring their own tea bags."
There's plenty of frugal people in the Uk, and they enjoy living basic lifestyles. That last line is just sociopathic.

There's plenty of frugal people in the Uk, and they do not enjoy living basic lifestyles. That is their lot as they are now second class citizens to the worlds assorted refugees spongers who take precedence over fully paid up U,K members of the tax system

The Equalizer (Denzel Washington movie) always takes his own tea bags to the café, nicely and strategically wrapped in a serviette.
It's a decent film if you've not seen it, wouldn't want to get on his bad side that's for sure, hence the positive review just in case he reads this.
I consider doing this on my upcoming trip with my PG pyramid bags, they need to be straight along all edges before you drop them in the water, to ensure maximum swirlability so the water can infiltrate the tea leaves more effectively.
Lipton or Tetleys shove it up your backside.
Would I get discount if I order a cup of tea without the teabag? I could put the money to my breakfast money and maybe splash out on a 110 baht breakfast somewhere

That is their lot as they are now second class citizens to the worlds assorted refugees spongers who take precedence over fully paid up U,K members of the tax system Thanks for venting your bigoted spleen - for a guy that makes great play of living in Thailand, you sure are expert on the entire UK population. So, once again, there's plenty of frugal people in the UK and they enjoy living basic lifestyles. ....................................................... I know them. Some are my relatives. They take great joy in rooting out bargains and going for the discount option. While they are not wealthy, neither are they skint. Like an Uncle of mine that died last year leaving an estate of £200,0000. He never spent a penny that didn't need spent. An ex-army man - Anzio - he despised the consumer and debt culture. He wasn't tight - he just never understood why a new adjustable spanner was required when a bit of time and WD40 would bring the old one back to life. There's plenty like him, and the world would be a better place if there were plenty more.

*Does my head in when people equate everything back to migrants and refugees.
It's as if life in the UK didn't exist before all this latest imbroglio.
The comical thing about it is that many of the people that rattle on about it could then, in the next sentence, tell you stories of their pals/relatives etc being frugal over the years.
But noooooo - all to be ignored now - its all the refugees fault, innit?
Used to be the workshy's fault -
Or the Pakis -
Or the West Indians -
Or the Irish -
The effin Tallies -
Or the....................................................
Insert whatever excuse you want to make.

No pointy fingers there blether but the current collective needs a voice.
There's nothing wrong with living on a certain level but countries need to look at their own back yards before welcoming an influx that takes advantage of a system before looking after their own.
In the name of human rights and helping a nation distressed to the max, their own are forgotten. That's my take. I like the Swiss idea of making them pay their way. Not an immigrant snob but look at the huge issues integrating them per country. The average Aussie struggles to buy a first home yet the immigrants have free all the way. That gets the hairs on the back up, it's simply not fair. AND it is getting more expensive by the year for people.
The disrespect for the new home nation, not tarring all with a black brush but the reality of it all you can't not have a voice.
It's a mess of the first order of messes.

That reminds me, my spanner has gone a bit rusty, haven't used it for quite some time.
I believe theres a few places in BKK that will bring it back to life with a bit of oil.
The 2 nuts on it need reducing in size too.
Might make that my 1st port of call when I arrive.

So the contention is that no one lived frugally before the advent of mass migration? Anyone with a brain can see that as bullshit. SP's post is a thread hijack.

Disagree.
There is a big difference between frugal, tight arses, Cheap Charlies and people living within their means ( or forced to do it ) as opposed to spongers and leeches on a system.
Multiculturalism is ace btw. Can of worms blether.

Thank you.
The 'immigrants' I know in Oz never bludged on the system. The 'immigrants' I know never took advantage. There were hard times but living within your means was nothing special.
When the old lady living next to my mum goes to hospital and there's some woman shouting in a language they don't understand, falling to the ground and they are getting her translators, free docs and turned out to be nothing. This poor woman next door would never get the same attention.
I'm an Aussie sort of but this type of crap is not on to me. Call me an immigrant too, no problem with that.

Nothing wrong with being frugal. I only indicate to go round a corner if I have to. Saves a fortune on bulbs. 2 ply toilet paper-unwrap to 1ply, twice as much.
