Headphones. I've got Phillips SHP 2000's over the ear headphones. They're OK but nothing to write home about. I'm think of buying a better pair -Sony MDR1a's. I only use the headphones for watching movies, utube music and games.
Is the quality broadcast going to make a noticeable difference between headphones or am I wasting my money?

Have an ear test, I doubt your frequency range is any where near a decent set of headphones ; so yes a waste of money. Unless you are intent on impressing the Jonses.

For that price I would recommend a pair of beyer dynamic dt770 (250ohm), they sound great all through the frequency spectrum, have velvet ear pads and are not made from cheap plastic like the sonys.
Most pro recording studios use them, if you live near a shop that sells recording gear go demo a pair.
Good point by buhi there though.

Senheiser are good. Even a pair for the 10k baht range sound fantastic. I had a pair of Sony worth around 3k and they sounded crap. No idea if all Sony sound average but I can't see myself buying anymore.

The Sony MDR1a has black leather earpads and the beyer does not have leather earpads. Lazada Beyerdynamic Headphone รุ่น DT 770 PRO, 250 Ohms 7,190 ฿

Is the quality of sound being broadcast on the internet able to be heard better by the more expensive earphones? Or is the quality so poor that there is no difference between 1000 baht and 10,000 headphones?

As I understand the sound thing it's "Headphones have an upper frequency of 39500 Hz for extra room space. Though as much as 39500 is hardly ever required, what it does, is that it gives you a bigger room, not for sounds because you can't hear sounds at that frequency, but in making your track more airy, hence bringing in more clarity in sounds. Headphones have that lower frequency of 10 Hz, not for listening, but so that you can also feel the vibrations coming out of those base responsible sounds." I hope that explains why I would want a frequency I can't hear.

That thing about the airy stuff at that frequency is untrue IMO (could be wrong), if it was true pro audio mastering EQ's would cover those frequencies. The only time anything higher than 20-22Khz matters is when digitizing/sampling (nyquist theory)
The bass is a moot point if the bass frequencies when mastered are cut off at 30hz, which is very common practice. The lower frequency they can handle say 10hz the better they will handle 30hz as your not at the limit of the headphones spec. You could also apply that to the high frequencies.
In a lot of cases you probably wouldn't notice the difference on youtube IMO, it depends exactly what you are listening to (audio quality) and how good your ears are.
Like hippity said sennheiser do some good phones without spending a fortune and they are built well.
This is good quality audio and the difference between your current headphones and the 770s you would notice if your hearing is OK
Whether it's worth the extra money is your choice.

I would be more interested in the 770 except no leather pads and all the reviews I read said the bass is amplified beyond reality I'm not into drum and bass music stuff and use the headphones mostly to listen to movies.

I don't know if it is a critique of this forum or the INTERNET in general or my writing skills. I asked for information about INTERNET AUDIO TRANSMISSION. I didn't ask about my hearing or my headphones or my new headphones. I asked about the standard of INTERNET AUDIO TRANSMISSION. Does the quality of audio transmission on the INTERNET discriminate between cheap and expensive headphones? Is all the sound transmitted on the INTERNET going to sound like crap or are better headphones going to improve the listening experience?

What you hear will only be as good as the source, crap in crap out irrespective of the headphones you use.

I can only talk for music, I download heaps off the stuff, I hate bloody compression, I usually try and download pre fm source wav/flac files.
