^^ I saw this yesterday, but had to wait to get a decent YouTube of it.
Years ago, I rented a condo on the 21st floor, by the beach 9in the West)
We used to get fire Trucks there, maybe once a month. The building also was let partly as a hotel and the most common cause of alarm was burnt toast.
The hotel Manager, by law was not allowed to investigate and cancel the alarm if it was indeed, just the toaster.
I used to say to my flat-mate, don't worry about the evacuation alarm, or the sound of the first firetruck arriving but if you hear a second fire truck arrive, the backup, it's serious, then it's time to get out.
I hope everyone made it out OK from the news item story.

What's fascinating about it is the fact fire can spread and totally engulf a building that's predominantly constructed of non flammable material like cement, steel and drywall, glass, not to mention fire sprinkler systems throughout the building.
Hard to work out why it wasn't extinguished much earlier.

Hard to work out why it wasn't extinguished much earlier. It's in China, so it's highly likely that cheap materials were used and fire and safety regulation ignored. I worked on a contract in a major Hong Kong building and the sprinkler system was being plumbed in by Mainland Chinese. On first viewing the system looked ok, the sprinkler heads were coming out of the suspended ceiling tiles at the correct positions. However, when the safety check was carried out the inspector touched one of the sprinkler heads and it dropped to the floor. They had cut the tiles, poked the sprinkle heads through but had not connected any of them to the water pipes. In mainland China they would have slipped someone an envelope and the job would have been signed off.
