Recovered Gold Coast ice addict Nicole Schiller sings praises of rehab tourism after Thailand trip A FORMER Coast ice addict who went to Thailand to beat her drug demons is vouching for rehab tourism as local clinic bosses predict it will take off. Tweed mother-of-two Nicole Schiller said she was “in the darkest hole” when she spent $16,000 on a six-week stint at a Thai rehab centre to kick an amphetamine habit. “Physically, my body was starting to break down – something was going to give. I was burning the candle at both ends, working fulltime, being a single mother and using (drugs) because I needed to and wanted to.” The 37-year-old administration worker, now clean for 14 months, said Thai treatment was far cheaper than private programs she researched in Australia. Other benefits included a placement being available immediately and removal from an environment where ice was “easily accessible”.
