"LONDON - Over 70 doctors and medical experts sent an open letter to the British government on Wednesday calling for tackling to be banned in school rugby matches."
This was an AFP story, so not sure how credible it is. May just be the Frogs stirring up the Brits.
But I believe there was a similar move in Australia a few years ago, trying to ban all contact sports in schools. What hope have our kids got if they spend their adolescent years wrapped in cotton wool ?
I can only hope they don't call for a ban on cricketers throwing hard, round objects in the direction of players waving pieces of wood in the air.

Ahh yes...the risk of spinal injuries playing rugby. Its a lot more common in amateur rugby due to poor technique of course. banning tackling....might as well just play tag.

Back when I played hockey we didn't wear no pussy helmets or the goalies need face masks. All we had was a few beers before the game. Though Gump the fellow in goal in the photo usually had one too many beers.

Not a ban but more safety measures and trained coaches. Friend's brother ended up a paraplegic at 16 from a scrum gone wrong.
