"A ban on foreigners overstaying their visas from re-entering Thailand for between one and 10 years is producing good results as their number fell this month. The more than 39% decline, from 810,522 in October last year to 486,947 in March, shows “our new measure is effective”, Immigration Bureau chief Nathathorn Prousoontorn said on Friday. Of course, the numbers seem to describe the number of foreigners who reported (border, or elsewhere) or were caught and had overstayed more than 'x' days, with 'x' probably being one or more days. No indication in 'long time' overstayers or the possible decrease. Without any more details one might even conclude that tourists run out of money more quickly and go home more quickly. Possibly 'long time' overstayers went into hiding

^^^ dont know can soon add up, what about all the Pinoy "teachers" with NO WPs.
What about all the Digital Pikey tax dodgers, effin bloggers and trawel writers.
They wont be missed.
The same types that foretold the end of Thailand years ago when the 30 day visa runners were kicked out.
Wonder how those language schools are doing these days?
Thailand moves forward and marches to a differnt drum, the Pikeys marched off to Cambo.

Those figures simply aren't credible. It's only relatively recently that Immigration at the borders has been computerised, so anyone entering a few years ago won't have been effectively recorded. Then there are those who come across the border illegally, bypassing Immigration. Lots of migrant workers fall into that category.
Definitely need to be taken with a large pinch of Saxo.
