Thai woman nabbed with 2.6kg cocaine at airportAttachment DeletedCustoms police at Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday arrested a Thai woman with 2.6 kilogrammes of cocaine disguised as candy, The Phnom Penh Post reported, citing police and airport sources. The suspect flew into the airport on Wednesday on flight QR 970, from Doha, Qatar, police said. However, police said the suspect was originally coming from Bahrain, from which she departed on Tuesday. Police requested media not publish the suspect’s name due to the ongoing investigation. When her cylindrical candy boxes raised suspicions, customs officials opened them to find small bundles inside filled with a white powder, which further examination proved to be cocaine, said an airport security officer who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media. A National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said the haul was believed to be worth $250,000. The evidence was sent to anti-drug officials at the Ministry of Interior, he said, and the suspect is being questioned. englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/157939

Possibly looking at the value of the haul she was carrying and caught with that she was diversionary tactic mule to be given up so as the big consignment makes it in without any problems.
Wonder if now the fee she received to courier the goods looks so good to her now ?

I wonder what drove her to do it...stupidity, greed, poverty or a combination of the three?

Cambodia has seen enough death so no I think not...but not certain tbh. Mind boggles at Cambodians all getting off on using their credit cards and $20 bills sniffing away by Sisawath Quay!

The last line says it all, in many cases regarding the westerners involved in the matter it's down to their greed and stupidity. In the Thai girls case its no doubt down to a mix of both poverty and the ignorance of the truth and thus odds on being caught and the subsequent consequences of being caught. See below, twenty years on !!

Cambodia In Cambodia, you can be sentenced to many years in prison or even life in prison for possessing drugs. Unlike many other South Asian countries, Cambodia does not mandate the death penalty for drug trafficking
