BSOD ... the Blue Screen of Death.
Running Genuine Windows Pro 64 bit.
Got the 'Critical Process Died'.
Ran the SFC (System File Checker) as the admin sfc /scannow ... took ages to complete.
Came back with the message that the system had errors but couldn't fix them.
I want to run the SFC at boot time, but, despite heaps of googling, can't find how to.
Anyone?

Theres a windows update KB3022345 that causes the SFC not to work (reports errors and wont fix them) you need to remove it.
Download "whocrashed" and post the results of the minidump here.

Came loaded with Win 8.1, then I did the upgrade to 10, probably just to get rid of their annoying prompt. I'll go read about minidumps now

I downloaded and installed that program ^^ After the initial install it came up with '0 crashes'. So I closed it, and restarted it and the same result. Through File Explorer I did a search of find .dmp ... and there is nothing, from that list for yesterday when the computer crashed. Am I doing this all wrong?

The only time I managed to fix the BSOD I had to do the f-key thing on startup and change the sata setting. Fixed it straight away.
Thanks Dr Google.

The dumps are in /windows/minidumps or at least they are in 7 You downloaded the wrong program, you could set up MS symbols for debugging, but its complicated setting it up and will probably take you hours configuring the symbol server settings. Its easier just installing 'whocrashed' and pressing analyse. www.resplendence.com/downloads

Have you disabled your page file? if not, did you shut the computer off before the crash dump was written? Normally it says at the bottom of the blue screen 100% complete You could try this www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2559476/critical-process-died-blue-screen-death.htmlCould be dodgy memory or a driver like he says....I'm having similar issues at the moment with BSODs and have had to remove the 2 newer sticks of memory and also use windows 'driver verifier' to remove conflicting/bad drivers. Only time will tell.

Easiest way to fix this issue is first, head to shed and get a hammer. .....second, give it a damn good thrashing.

Never had this type of error with Windows/Xp, Windows/7, Windows/8.1.
Is this typical for Windows/10 or are you guys 'fumbling around' too much with drivers/ packages and new hardware ?
