My Dear Boy I believe the Mod for this forum is a professional chef, discussing tomato sauce from a jar is simply wrong and never ever discuss cheese from a spray can.
(Add Prego to a frittata or as a base on toasted bread and top with Welsh rarebit)

Thanks Johnny...but a professional Chef on vacation since 57 minutes... The tomato thingy is actually pretty often used by myself.not ready made tomato sauce but canned diced or whole peeled tomatoes.just chop some onions, garlic and fry them golden brown add some proteins( meat, fish mussels- minced or finely sliced) some tomato paste and fry for another minute or two add the canned tomatoes (blended) season with salt, pepper some thyme or basil and in the meantime your pasta is already cooked....easily doable within 10 minutes... And if you like Thai food most stir fried(Pad) is done in far less than 10 min...excluding shopping...

Anything tomato-based gives me heartburn.
Must be the acids in all the hybrids.
Never taken to tomatoes.

Pala, a bkk Italian restaurant, frequently has for sale cherry tomatoes imported from, I believe, Sicily...these travel well and are far more flavorful than local varieties. Just slice in half, add some chopped onion (or cuke) for crunch, some cubed feta (Waitrose brand is available in the Central Chitlom supermarket: superior quality), herbs (I use sweet basil, fresh coriander or dried oregano...and sometimes all three) and a cubed avocado (for meaty heft). Dress with a little EVOO and red wine vinegar and a twist of freshly ground black pepper. Makes a good light meal with a half flute of sesame bread from Paul.
