Panama Papers: David Cameron to publish six years of tax returnsDavid Cameron is poised to publish six years of his tax returns in a bid to end scrutiny over his investment in an offshore investment fund as he faced a potential investigation by Parliament's standards watchdog. The move will put pressure on prospective Conservative leadership candidates Boris Johnson and George Osborne to follow his example. It came as YouGov polling suggested that the controversy over his tax affairs has damaged his reputation, with his approval level sinking below that of Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour leader, for the first time. Labour on Friday attempted to keep the pressure on Mr Cameron by referring him to the parliamentary commissioner for standards for failing to declare his shareholding in the MPs' register of interests. A Downing Street spokesman rejected the claims and insisted that his interests had been "recorded in line with the rules as they stood at the time". Mr Cameron is expected as early as Saturday to publish tax returns dating back to 2009-10, the year in which he sold his £30,000 investment in his father's offshore fund just four months before entering Downing Street. The decision to become the first Conservative leader to publish his tax returns so is likely to play a significant role in the Conservative leadership contest. A Conservative ally of Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, insisted that he would be "relaxed" about publishing his tax returns. In 2012 Mr Johnson took the rare step of detailing a letter sent to him by his accountants confirming that he earned a total of £373,280 and paid tax and National Insurance of £213,749. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/08/panama-papers-david-cameron-to-publish-six-years-of-tax-returns/
