It happens to all of us. There comes a time when you start looking for the f... manual to read it. I had 'repaired' an old server using part of an equally old, broken server. Since the memory from the broken unit was OK I added it to the unit being 'restored'. It's always nice to have a lot of memory and I could double it now, from 32MB to all of 64MB. Two days later panics started. As I didn't think kicking would help, neither tearing my hair I acted like a man, eat humble pie, I read the f... manual. Seems the 8MB and 16MB SIMs had to be inserted in the right order. I should have known

Read The <ducking> Manual (or google the term ) ah I know this acronym as RTFI...read the ducking instructions.. I guess in Computers and IT a few of such terms got re-invented. Some sayings are probably also 'about' the same. Like "don't touch it when it works" or "this is just a simple improvement no one will notice"

I still use Yahoo to search, probably because I started such searching in 1993 (or so) when DEC was first trying out the idea internally followed by a public service called "AltaVista". Technically superior, even had a 'babel fish' for translations. Marketing failure as people don't always care about the technical side, but more about 'will it work for me'. Imagine PS for those looking for ancient documents manx.classiccmp.org/collections/mds-199909/cd2/pc/
