Too be honest I dont see large age differences here in Thailand among the Thais, and certainly not in the part of Bkk in which I live. I was sat talking to a bunch of Thai girls late 20s, some farang was talking to one of them on FaceAche, I was translating for them, he is 48, all of them said almost in unison, oh too old. Cannot blame a girl from wanting a husband roughly the same age as her, that is human nature. But nature/life throws some funny stuff at you at times, causes you to do things out of the norm. My mother and father in law in Surin are the same age difference as my wife and I, about 22 years. His first wife died when they were about 40 and as soon as the accepted mourning period was over the old crones in the village produced a young lady of 18 and said he had to have a wife, this one will do nicely ! It is hard when you have to bow to social pressure

Centrelink and the Aussie Tax dep doesn't want people calling women molls, fb's or men bastards either. De Facto is out too. Partner is safe and doesn't upset PC types. If for example you're not married but have a string of kids is she still your gf?

One interesting thing about PC is that some of the gay persuasion here who are on pensions can have their pensions reduced as Centrelink regards their living with someone even for a short duration the same as being married.

We have gay pensioners ? How long has this been going on ?

Some of them may get a parliamentarian pension one day en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_first_LGBTI_holders_of_political_offices_in_Australia

The shielas turned lesbian....or left the country. that was a good save.....I nearly didn't have the last sentance and <Bunny boiler> would have killed me.

That "image", as so often is the case, was a product of the vivid imagination of someone who has probably never stepped foot in the country. We got used to it long ago and usually don't even bother to respond so a lot of people thought it must be true. Like I have never seen an "ocker" riding a kangaroo up the main street of town wearing nothing but a (pair of) thongs and drinking a can of Fosters. (but it is a lovely thought) Re' ................." Don't tell me even the last of them (the blokes that is) came out?"......................... No, most of them went out, out of the country to places like Thailand, looking for a lady who was anything but a sheila.
