Am I likely to be surrounded by farang hippies on KP?
Looks like a nice place for a short trip, but I can not for the life of me be congregating with this kind of folk.

Go to Khon Kaen instead. Nicest city in Thailand I think anyway and I've never seen any hippy dreadlocks there once.

You will find people who like to escape from the crowds and sunbathe/read books and enjoy a simple life.

I wish I could afford a simple life.

I wish I could afford a simple life. Ah yes, the abandonment of personal responsibilty does have its attractions.

Knocked Phayam on the head I think.
Koh Lipe instead, but now my question is how safe is the trip from Hat Yai train station to Pak Barra pier.
Do I need to pack a carbine or an assault rifle?
Or are the drivers on the roads more of a threat to safety than terrorism?
