Monkey business: Chinese police called by scorned wife ‘find 37 protected wild primates inside couple’s home’

Chinese police allegedly found nearly 40 protected wild monkeys being stored illegally at a couple’s home after the wife rang police to ask them to arrest her husband for using drugs, mainland media reports. The unnamed woman from Dongxing, in Guangxi province, was also angry that her husband had brought his mistress to their home, the news portal Qq.com reported on Tuesday.
When police arrived on Sunday they were stunned to find 20 red slender loris and 17 macaque primates inside the apartment the couple were renting, the report said. Police said they were contacted by the man’s wife on Sunday morning, who claimed that he was using drugs and had brought his mistress home.
The husband told police that he had no idea where the monkeys found inside had come from.
The police detained the husband after a brief confrontation. The police investigation is continuing.
