Finding contradictory information on the Internet. Is the reentry permit desk before or after Immigration at Don Mueang?

Not 100% sure to be honest. Logically you'd expect it to be before immigration, but something tells me it isn't - can't recall from where. What I can say is, but none specifically answer your question: Their website for DM isn't as infomative as swampy, and just tells you to contact immigration 1178 - donmueangairportthai.com/en/1192-bangkok-airport-immigration-checkpoint- You can make online appointments at Chaeng Wattana to cut queue waiting time, and says you should be finished in 5 mins bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/base.php?page=re-entry- For swampy I'm pretty sure it's after immigration, and their website and map suggests that. It's on 4th level, zone 2 at the Passenger Terminal Building on 4th level on the east side. I believe 4Fl. the east side is only accessible after passing immigration. suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/1001-re-entry-visaUsually I get mine on the same day as my final extension for another year, for multiple re-entry regardless of whether I actually need one. I'd rather pay the 3,800 baht and not have to go back there for a year. The gap I usually have though and when I'd use what you are looking at is when they only give me 4 weeks pending full approval. They do this every year. I went last Friday and they give me 4 weeks, and I have to go back in May. I don't get a re-entry unless I have travel plans during those 4 weeks, as they'll only give it for 4 weeks. But am interested to know how it still works as I did do it a few years back.

I travel through there a lot and there is an immigration desk on the international side of the terminal (T-1) before you go through, but for the life of me cant remember whether it mentions anything about reentry permits
Given DM is a fully fledged international airport again, they must do reentry permits, but before or after immigration cant confirm 100%

Apprantly its after pp control at DM Spot on. Thanks. It's in an office directly behind the passport control desks along with the overstay fine paying desk. Simpler system than Suvarnabhumi in that a single officer handles the whole process in one stop. No waiting for approval. She takes a photo, retypes your completed form into a computer then prints it out for you to sign. You also are asked to fill in an intrustive personal information form - number of mia noi, favourite sex position, etc., etc. which requires an additional photo from you. Anyway, 5 minutes or so in and out (that's about the office, not my favourite sex act).

^^^^ informative post (too much information), go anywhere nice? Sorry. I'll try to be less informative next time. Went to HCMC for a few days. Not really a lot to see (and I had been there a couple of decades ago, so it wasn't my first visit). However, the AO Show is pretty good - a sort of low rent Cirque du Soleil in the French Colonial-period Opera House. The food, however, was a bit disappointing, even though I had dinner in three top-end restaurants. Bland and uninspiring. Based upon past experience, the food in the North (Hanoi) is more interesting. However, I did get the chance to eat both balut (boiled duck embryo in the shell) and the quail version thereof. The quail version is more palatable - plus it's smaller, so there's less to challenge one. Was glad to get back to a plate of phat kraphao, though. Still, the wine was reasonably priced, and the bread great. I do sometimes wish that Thailand had been colonised - preferably by the French. HCMC has actually changed quite a lot since my last visit. Many more cars (but still an enormous number of motorcycles). Motorcycle taxis are far less visible: they're still there, but you now use Grab or Uber to get one. Lots of foreign franchises now, such as Big C, MK, Family Mart, Parkson to name just a few. Also lots of new high end retail operations such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Rolex, Lamborghini, Bulgari, Hermes to name just a few. Generally speaking, I was impressed by the high level of English spoken by hospitality staff and the absolutely charming service. Whilst service in Thailand was similarly charming and smiley 30 years ago, it rarely is these days. And English has never been a strong point with Thais. Vietnam has the potentially seriously to rival Thailand as a tourist destination. To be honest, if someone asked me which country/place in SE Asia to visit first as a tourist, I'd probably say Bali, followed by Vietnam. Thailand would be a fairly distant third. Incidentally, the taxi touts at the International terminal at the airport are far, far worse than in Bangkok, aggressively demanding rapacious prices. Ended up walking to the Domestic terminal to find a taxi prepared to use the meter. This definitely needs to be sorted. I'm sure a lot of first time visitors end up getting seriously ripped off.
