SpaceX successfully lands first-stage booster after half-tonne satellite launch. An unmanned SpaceX rocket has blasted off from Florida to put a communications satellite into orbit, with the launch vehicle's main-stage booster successfully landing on a floating platform at sea.A company webcast showed the 23-story-tall Falcon 9 rocket soaring off a seaside launch pad at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Perched atop the booster was a Japanese JCSAT-14 satellite, a new customer for Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX. About two-and-a-half minutes after launch, the rocket's first stage shut down to separate, leaving the second stage to deliver the satellite. The returning rocket was programmed to fly itself back to a floating landing pad off Florida's east coast in the Atlantic Ocean. The full story and take-off video is here ABC NewsThe real story is not the launching (of yet another satellite) but that, for the first time that I know of, some of the rocket becomes recyclable.

That takes some doing landing that on a barge definitely not a GPS receiver from a smart phone This will be a differentional GPS receiver which is cm accurate.. As you may or may not know...all GPS receivers and associated software are not born equal....as your accuracy requirements go up so does the price of the equipment We use a lot of stand alone GPS systems for positioning offshore and you would poo your pants at the price of the receivers and software and we are down to an accuracy of only 500mm

Thanks to GPS we can find a needle in a haystack, or a small platform in the vast ocean That takes some doing landing that on a barge definitely not a GPS receiver from a smart phone This will be a differentional GPS receiver which is cm accurate.. Mind you, some take a wrong turn and end up in the river www.businesspundit.com/these-8-incredibly-stupid-people-used-google-maps-and-other-gps-and-failed-at-life/
