^ I don't have one class as I pull children out of classes and teach small class sizes. I'm also at an IB school, and work with both foreign and local teachers. Well, Enjoy! I'll be away from the forum for awhile. Busy, busy lady here.

Started lessons last week at the YMCA on Tuesday eves- phonetically it's easier than Thai. Plus,my students are teaching me the alphabet and seem to be pretty keen to help. Wish I had started learning a language at their age. It's a good job they are patient 555

I started learning Thai language when I was 48 (AUA in Chiang Rai, six months one-on-one) and I loved it but wished I was a lot younger as the older you get the harder it is to absorb all that new data. My son will be three next month, holds a good conversation in Thai, already has a wide vocabulary, reads Thai number plates and signs, speaks to me in English mainly (probably has already worked out my Thai is rubbish) can identify most of the English alphabet, and understands his mother when she speaks to him in Issan but as yet has trouble speaking it.
I am amazed at his ability to learn so much in such a short time, and at his age. He told his mother he wants to go to a Chinese school so he can learn to speak their language. We don't even know where he gets these ideas from but it may be from You Tube as he likes to watch videos. He likes the "learn the alphabet" type videos, Gor Gor - Kor Khai etc.
Have often looked at the Myanmar script and wondered if I could learn that one as well. Looks like a challenge though.

Looks like fun. Hope you feel better, Seb. Some of the temples are pretty cool looking. I'm thinking of starting a mainland China travelling thread. I've started to travel more within China as of last March.
