I ate, read, drank beer and took a nap.

Hotels here have a reputation of being over priced- not been my experience so far- this place ran at $35 a night, which is a bargain as far as I'm concerned. Small but confortable rooms and a decent pool.

Next holiday will be 3 weeks around Christmas and New Year- hoping to get to the coast that I have heard so much about. If it's all booked up, and it very well could be I guess I will hop over the border to Thailand for my beach holiday. It was indeed a holiday for 'mulling'- what to do next year? Mandalay is a pretty exhausting and full on place- that upcountry campus with fresh mountain air is appealing all the more after this trip. Staying in Thailand for so long in hindsight was a mistake, I don't plan on repeating that here in Myanmar. There is still so much of Asia and the world I want to experience. China or Japan are at the top of the list at the moment. China would be easy enough as I know the recruiter for one of Shenzhen's better but not best international schools who would place me. Culturally Japan appeals a little more, and also from a culinary perspective. Japan also seems to come with more benefits despite the higher cost of living such as healthcare and a retirement plan. Those taxes actually seem to work for you-wish Blighty was the same LOL

Go HK, I'd hire you. SZ is an MTR ride. Mainland China all easy access as is Hainan, Macao, Bkk is 2 hours loads of other places.

HK is organized, no snakepit here, mainland anything goes. I do hope one day Seb you would consider it. NET scheme with HK 20 000 accommodation allowance on top of your salary is ace too besides the international schools. Whatever happened to that NET guy who used to post on Ajarn? He's more up to date on this.

Took another trip of Mandalay Hill today to mull things over. Alas, the phone camera was playing silly buggers for some of them.

Shame this one did not turn out well- these kids were hurling the ball at the middle Englanders that had been bussed in LOL

In Mandalay it seems that soi cats outnumber soi dogs

Sunset and time for some good old mulling. Love every aspect of the job- friendly and truly bilingual coworkers and the keenest most engaged, most outgoing although somewhat mischievous and goofy kids I have taught. The total lack of materials has turned into a positive- it's made me more creative and resilient with making my own materials. Negative: This living situation is now becoming unbearable

On Sunday I took a trip up to Yankin Hill just outside of town.

I don't post many food pics but here is my dinner of Shan Noodles, fried watercress and some beer. Had one Heineken before switching to the local Myanmar Beer- much crisper and more refreshing IMO.

Go buy a real camera - like a Canon 700D.

You may get one cheaper than the upgrade, plus you enjoy photography, you have a good eye - I think you'll get into a cracking new hobby.
