Socialite gets jail for drug possessionTHE Criminal Court yesterday sentenced socialite Kan-anek Pachimsawat to two years and nine months in jail for drug possession. He was also fined Bt200,000. Kan-anek is free on Bt350,000 bail. He plans to appeal the verdict. Police arrested Kan-anek on February 12 last year for possessing 0.67 grams of crystal methamphetamine. The court found solid evidence against him and no grounds to suspend the jail term. After his arrest, Kan-anek made a partial confession but he was apparently unwilling to cooperate with the police investigation. He lodged a complaint against the police who arrested him. Last year, the Supreme Court handed a two-year jail term to Kan-anek's son for crashing his Mercedes-Benz into a crowd of people in 2007, killing a bus conductor. www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Socialite-gets-jail-for-drug-possession-30286869.html
