Fitness club owner to surrender after warrant issued over deadly fireAn arrest warrant was issued for the owner of a fitness club in Bangkok’s Rat Burana district, after two clients died and three others were injured by smoke inhalation from a fire at the business last Tuesday. After the warrant was issued, Chisanupong Ya-on, 33, contacted police to arrange for his surrender tomorrow, acting Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Lt-General Sanit Mahathaworn said yesterday. The fitness club owner is facing the charge of recklessness causing the death and injury of others, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or a Bt20,000 fine. Sanit said the fire occurred at an under-construction restaurant on the ground floor of the business. He said clients and staff on the second floor were not able to escape. Sanit instructed the case investigators to gather evidence and act against those involved and determine the cause of the fire. www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Fitness-club-owner-to-surrender-after-warrant-issu-30286929.html
