One does wonder if that remark was uttered by ardent gay chappy who has swung so far over to the other side and as a result now become a lesbian.

...Joko, of course, is the exception that proves the rule...I mean: one darkie had to be let in just to show how accepting y'all are... ... I dont know whether to laugh or be offended. Offended at the use of such archaic language, fan of Kipling are we. Standards old chap standards. Good gawd pull yourself together man, shoulders back, chest out, a rousing version of Rule Britannia followed by a nice cup of tea on the lawn. Whatever next, asking for women members in the clubhouse. Keep that attitude up and its off to the colonies for you my good man.

No wants to own up to the problems being part of their circle...more accurately, no one asked me (or us newcomers) who the troublemakers might be or for assistance in weeding them out...bkk1 was obvious, but he attacked only JD and me (just as he did on AF)...others may yet come with nics unknown to me, but they soon make themselves apparent just as Seb and <Bunny boiler> did on AF (and hence Fran's comment concerning trolls from here)...I have absolutely no problem pointing out AF trolls if I know who they are...why, after all, would I want to read their annoying drivel in a new place? That's exactly what these problem posters wanted....and how many were clearly identified as former AF posters, now trolling? And how would anyone here know? Many of the AF trolls maintained a presence on TD and boasted of their expeditions to AF... Creating divisions and causing hassle...you're suggesting that all was dandy here in posters' paradise then before those horrible Afers waded ashore...obviously, one person's "creating divisions" is another's invitation to critical thinking...similarly, one poster's "causing hassle" is another's vibrant and, yes, provocative posting style... Let me clear this one up. 3 people have gone from the forum recently. I had a hand in all 3. For all 3 I sought input directly and indirectly from existing members and newcomers as well as those that fall in between. 1 was obvious as you say and banned. Another was given a firm but friendly warning as to content of his postings breaching Proboards rules. Plus his interaction with other members. He chose to leave. For the 3rd I had a very straight forward conversation. His actions were not being well received by many posters and I asked the simple open question did he see anything changing? He gave no suggestion he saw it changing nor even a suggestion of any need to change. As it seemed to be wasting everyone s time including mine I disabled his account. The key point for all 3 we did seek input which included newcomers views among others before then taking action. As you say people have different styles and views. >>> On a more positive note we had a 4th newcomer who a staff member disabled his account. Most Thai forums would have left it there. For that Member though as we didn t know him well at all we asked for input from various parties. Most of whom were ex-Ajarn people. We decided to re-enable his account and remove the ban on the strength of their opinions. To actually get his account re-enabled 3 ex-Ajarn members assisted. After a brief chat and changed understanding from both perspectives we re-enabled his account which in hindsight has been a good decision. >>> Thank you to you and others to note what has actually been happening rather than what you think might be happening. >>>

Excellent post there Arrow and really outlines what we really want which is a forum full of discussion and fun yet without the negative sniping and BS seen in too many places.
Onwards and upwards....as long as baldy doesn't win the election heh heh.

This forum has made considerable mistakes over the months and I'm sure will make more. In spite of that we will continue to move forward and look to improve things for existing and future members. Rest assured however we won't be selling fake visas or Ponzi schemes to our membership.

Joko is a good example. Definitely not an isolated exception though and there are others. I'm not sure exactly who comes from where and not really bothered to be honest, but there are other recent arrivals like stfranulum, zehner, Number 4 that spring to mind, as welcome additions - and that's from my observations as a "sometimes" quieter member on here. No doubt there are more.
Trouble is between us we started getting in a bit of a rut about discussing the problem posters rather than focusing on the positive sides. Unfortunately:
1) No one wants to own up to the problems being part of their circle bit like a party where someone s doing their best to ruin it and everyone is saying well I didn't bring him he must be with you
2) That's exactly what these problem posters wanted. Creating divisions and causing hassle. Perhaps it worked for a while but as expected people all round are starting to wise up to this and the real problem posters' days are numbered.
I even heard a comment the other day that you weren't so bad when you weren't winding us all up
Cheers Fletch
I confess I've been at the wind up a few times in the last few days. Question is where, when and how ( there is one classic sleeper ). Not prepared to say what it is, though.

...posting this action summary a bit earlier would probably have been a good idea...saved a bit of angst all around... Just stick to positive contributions. There's no need for forum management to explain every decision to you, I, or any member. One reason is that it affects the privacy of said members - The other is it's a conceit to believe that they should.

Time to give it a rest.
I suggest that members, especially long time members, refrain from posting anything about other members.
You are fanning the flames when you should be dousing them.
And now the forum is being dominated by talk of trolls, personal attacks etc
Which is handing them a victory.
pm any observations to the management.
Don't feed the dragon.

...I agree to this extent : confessed trolls should be left out of the loop...as for the rest of us (if I may include myself in the larger us), I think the more we know about mod opinions and actions, the better off we all are...I'm not at all concerned about the privacy of trolls...though it's Christian of you to worry...
