As promised to Shadow a thread on Xi'an. Recently, I spent four days in Xi'an, China during the Dragonboat Festival holiday. I took a plane from Beijing to Xi'an. From Beijing it takes 1.5 hours to get to Xi'an, and despite long cues and crowds in Chinese airports, it was a quick trip. Xi'an is about an hour from the airport into the city. Since this is a very touristy city because of the Terracotta Warriors, people will try to rip you off. You have to haggle aggressively like them if you want to get a fair price. Make sure you use a taxi meter at the airport. It cost me 30$ from the airport to my hotel. I stayed at the Citadines Aparthotel which was within walking to distance to the Bell tower, Drum tower, South Gate and Muslim street. Ideal location to walk to everything. Various shots of the drum tower. You can pay money (6$) to climb up the tower and see some cool drums. They also have a drum performance at certain times which I missed. There are so many people around this tower because right behind it is the famous Muslim quarter where the Chinese Muslims sell local food and souvenirs. On the second floor of the drum tower. This thread will take some time as I have many photos. I will post more when I have time. This is the Bell Tower which sits in the middle of a busy roundabout. You can go up the bell tower from underground subway tunnels. I didn't go up this one. The Bell tower is close to the drum tower, so you can see them from each other and they are hard to miss at night, when they are all lit up so beautifully.
