BBC - Rory McIlroy isn't going due to Zika concerns. He's worried about getting infected and passing it to his wife. I think the are planning a family.

I think the last games almost deserving to be called games was Melbourne. Well, some would say the London Olympics was the best ever - I think even the Australian press called it that way. I know that some believe it should be in Athens every four years, but I don't remember that Athens Olympics being up to much. It should be held in one of the world's great cities, one which has the ability to grow the facilities and turn the games into an easy access tourism bonanza. |

Just read that during the 'flag parade' the Dutch delegation had 80 people of which 33 who will compete in the O.G. The rest is 'just' coaches, staff and the like.
So tell me, 'games'?

Some time ago in Australia there was a movie on TV...a documentary about the Australian Contingent to the WOrld Scrabble Championship..or something like that. Not one had ever played proper scrabble but they found that by forming an association with a head and officers they could get their full fares paid by the government to compete in world competitions. They incorporated an association and the three officers enjoyed a free tour overseas at taxpayer expense to support the one player...who had never played before who copeted and of course came last. Everyone happy and they even made a film which they sold to the ABC. |
