I read earlier this year that La Nina, the weather system that brought the heatwave to Thailand, would also bring flooding to rival the 2011 floods. Yesterday brought the worst rainfall in 25 years to BKK.
Time to buy a boat if you live in BKK and other parts, methinks.

Obviously the blocked drains as below has nothing to do with the flooding in Bangkok.

Obviously the blocked drains as below has nothing to do with the flooding in Bangkok. Need to be some size of a drain to handle 170 mm of rainfall in a couple of hours Save

No need for fancy bullshit terms like La Niña also,it's quite simply the weather, you may confuse posters with over complication of terms such as torrential rain and monsoon season.
save.

I think this is a La Niña year? SaveNot yet. Summary ENSO Alert System Status: Final El Niño Advisory/ La Niña Watch ENSO-neutral conditions are present. Equatorial sea surface temperatures (SST) are near average across the east central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean. La Niña is favored to develop during the Northern Hemisphere summer 2016, with about a 75% chance of La Niña during the fall and winter 2016-17.
