"Thumb-sucking and nail-biting children show fewer allergies in later life Children who suck their thumbs or bite their nails may be less likely to develop allergies, according to a new study from New Zealand's University of Otago. The finding emerges from the long-running Dunedin Multidisciplinary Study, which has followed the progress of 1,037 participants born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1972-1973 into adulthood. I used to get nervous when flying and used to chew nails and suck thumbs but the stewardess asked me to stop as the passenger I was doing it to felt uncomfortable.  (psycho smilie needed mods !) |

Used to bite and pull my nails off till they were bleeding, also used to rub my eyes till they were almost bleeding, due to a pollen allergy.
