So where should we be getting our dose of culture in the Big Mango?
I know what toadie will say....but there must be some interesting spots around town.
The Planetarium heading past Thonglor on the right is a good option....any others?

I enjoy a day wandering around the BACC - across the street from MBK, the exhibitions change frequently and there are some nice shoppes, you can also take a jewellery course and painting course if you've got the time.
Across the street from Hua Lamphong station there's a newish grey building that has a nice coffee shoppe on the main floor and a nice exhibition upstairs that also changes every month or so.
Hof Gallery at Phra Khanong has an interesting collection currently on display and they often invite the artist, they have a listing of up coming events.
Art/Photo Exhibitions at Central World are fun as well, I'm on an e-mail list and can post upcoming events if anyone is interested. There is one in June done by a young Thai girl Photographer who lived in the Ukraine that looks really interesting.
The Bangkok Symphony concerts in the park will hopefully be back in November in Lumphini Park - can't smoke or consume alcohol, nice evening out.
The Philatelic Musuem near Phaya Thai is enjoyable, especially the new design competition exhibit.
If not for the crowds I could spend all day at the Grand Palace looking at the murals and trying to spot the comedic figures purposely painted into the history of Siam, some are really funny. I believe there are a couple of dozen and not many know to look for them.
I haven't done a lot of them in the last year, I'm keen to get back out and explore.

There is a museum on the second floor at Wat Traimit that's done very well and shows Chinese migration to Thailand, short walk from Hua Lamphong MRT.
The newly opened museum (a year maybe) at the Grand Palace that shows the silk industry and highlights some of the formal gowns worn by The Queen.

I recommend MOCA: the Museum of Contemporary Art Bangkok. It's permanent exhibition is probably the best of its kind anywhere in South-east Asia. It's actually a private collection with a high entrance fee and is a little bit out from the city centre on Vibhavadi Rangsit Rd in Lat Yao. But it's definitely worth a visit. Few pictures from the outside and entrance hall. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedTripadvisor reviews here.

All kidding aside it's actually very interesting, defo not a thing to do with a date or someone squeamish. I've been a few times, I think the entry is 200 baht however if you're lincenced in any Medical field the entry is free, I usually do runner when I see the lungs and liver. What always catches me off guard are some people taking snaps - who does that?

Do you go often ? Some of the topics look interesting. I'm particularly interested in the more anthropological topics, but I'm happy to attend any weekday evening ones. I'm planning to go to Jeffrey McNeely's talk in May. Let me know if you want to go.
