But shut down Sydney when it was released due to people trying to catch Pokemons. I saw it in the papers. Some part of Sydney. People charged with illegal assembly. Any truth to this?

It's banned in China because the government think it is an espionage tactic to get people to go out exploring and maybe find a pokemon in a hidden military base.

There was a house somewhere that got broken into because there was a pokemon inside.

Apparently it drains your battery and overheats your phone.

Not here in Myanmar yet and with the state of the roads and streets I think it's for the best. In two minds about it: One one side it's getting people out of the house, moving about and perhaps interacting with each other. On the other side it does seem rather brainless. Very few of my students have heard of Pokemon- now that surprised me.
