Some of you will be aware that I have a few books on Amazon. This thread is not to promote the books, it's to tell you a story -
People that know me in person know that I had enough of the other place. I had it in mind to quit the forum completely at Christmas 2013, and had already posted I would be taking a break from the forum that November. I was banned for the most stupid reason you could imagine - and a senior mod volunteered to tell me who was behind it etc - I couldn't be bothered even listening to the story so I asked the mod to never mind.
Why? I had already disengaged from the forum and I wasn't interested in the actions of a half-wit cabal.
With the time I've freed up, I've written and pubbed multiple books. Some do well, some sink without trace. A couple I wish I could unpublish ( I can't due to a contract ) and others I'm quite proud of. Figures? - I've sold over 9,000 since I've started - and I should go through the 10,000 sales mark by June 1st. Earnings? I'm not allowed by contract to disclose - what I will say is that a singular .99 title earned $1500 in it's first year live, and that's not the top earner. It is safe to say that I earn more than the British state pension pays out on a monthly basis, easily more than that.
Why am I telling you this? two reasons - one is; being banned from the other place was a great thing for me. The time I spent on there is now better spent writing.
And two? - I reckon many of you guys have a book in you - and I'm happy to show you how to write it, edit it, make a cover, and publish it.
Am I promising you sales? No
Am I promising you an income? No.
It's tough to get sales. If I told you that according to industry figures, only 26% of authors, traditional and self-pubbed, sell more than 5,000 books in their careers, it will give you an idea how tough it is.
So why do it? for me - it's the satisfaction. I fist-pumped when I pubbed my first book - and then regretted pubbing it a day later when I noticed mistakes. But that first feeling? amazing.
Then knowing that a stranger bought my book? incredible - as are the emails I get discussing them.
Would you like me to teach you how to write and pub a book? pm me - or comment on the thread. I'll put together a simple document and issue it in a couple of weeks - then guide anyone interested through the process.
Over to you
