No real surprise there. Since a few days I see lots of Thai teens and twens looking at their mobile as hypnotised, as if it drags them forward not noticing anything or anyone around them. Pokemon fixation I guess. The walking path from BTS Victory Monument towards the roundabout seems to be real crowded when I pass around 7PM - 8PM. It is not just the rain, had already stopped this evening. Of course owning a mobile which allows one to phone and sent/receive SMS only helps to keep temptation in check "AIA: Thais sleep least, browse net most in region Thais sleep the least among Asia-Pacific countries and spend the longest time on non-work internet browsing, according to AIA Group's Healthy Living survey in Asia Pacific. The pan-Asian life insurance learned the unhealthy habits of Thai people from its survey on about 10,000 adults in 15 countries in Asia Pacific in the first half of this year. Of all respondents, 750 were Thai people." Sleep least? I simply don't believe it. It's been joked that sleeping isn't an Olympic sport because it wouldn't be fair, with the Thais winning every time. I also remember, back in my lecturing days, asking students what they did at the weekend, and they'd regularly reply "I slept".

^ I sense a generalization of Thai people, again. My wife would turn into the Tasmanian devil if you accused her or either being lazy or sleeping a lot. She rarely goes to bed before 11pm and is usually up at 6am working. A lot of our Thai friends are the same, hard working, quite often at work and travelling to and from for 12hrs a day. Maybe the hard workers deserve a sleep, not sure of the students though.

^ I see and hear every morning Thais waking up at 6, leaving the house at 7 to be picked up by some bus to work all day up in some factory in Ayuttaya or Chonburi, get home about 8 in the evening, sometimes later, no wonder they are knackered.
Personally I wouldnt take a job that involved more than a half hour commute.
I remember years ago living just outside London, the zombies were heading for St Pancras at 7 in the morning, getting home about 8 at night, all they did was sleep, what a depressing village, no soul, no one knew or talked to anyone, it was like something from The X Files.

It's hard to sleep when your scraping a living like most Thais.
Night markets, night busses night time everything, the place never shuts.
Can't get a bus here after 11pm in the UK unless in a major city.
Must be a bastard dragging your arse out of bed to go and work in that heat for peanuts.

^^^ here in Bkk, they dont bother, they just sleep, almost impossible to get a Thai labourer to work for less than 500 baht per day, they usually ask for 800 or 900 baht, then wonder why the locals employ Burmese etc for casual labour.

You mean Thai need to get out of the Asian Sphere and close borders to immigrants so local labour can get a decent wage without being undercut by fake refugees ? A Thaxit as it were

^^^ Gotta love the Thais, there is usually some dumb farang paying for it. Local labor, , "brother" employed to build the upcountry farang macmansion. Neber mind him lub me too mutt, him gib me big face in village. Only country I have been in where farmers labourers can become house builders, the tales of woe on another forum make for great reading.
