Purple Line getting 'better', even FREE WIFI. Missing link takes a wee bit longer though. "Unpopular Purple Line offers 30-50% discounts The Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) will cut fares and parking fees on its Purple Line electric railway by 30 to 50% on Sept 1 to woo commuters as present passenger traffic has reached only one-fifth of the target. ... The MRTA chairman said the state enterprise would also introduce free wi-fi and food and beverage shops at Purple Line stations and arrange for local buses shuttling between the stations and communities to woo passengers. ... Expect an exodus of online poker players, digital pikeys, skint brit pensioners and teflr types to move from Udom Suk to take advantage of the free wifi coz they are too skint to buy a sim card.

Remember the fella told us that the company insisted he use the chaffeur car provided, and it took him two hours to get home on a bad day. If he used the BTS, it would have been 15 minutes - but they didn't want him on the BTS for face reasons.

^^| Is that the one working in Hanoi now ? I don't know. He visited with a friend of ours, well known to many members of this board. They both work on BTS type projects. The fella was touching 70 years of age and said he was heading for the exit door until the BTS offer came up. He ran it past his ( British ) wife and she said, company house, maid service, superb money, a cushy job, and living in BKK? why retire? Indeed.
