Bindi Irwin has paid tribute to her late father Steve on the 10th anniversary of his death, describing him as her “hero” for life. At 44, the Crocodile Hunter died after being struck multiple times by a stingray barb while filming in waters off Port Douglas in far north Queensland. “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe,” his 18-year-old daughter posted on Instagram on Sunday, alongside a photo of Steve proudly holding her as a baby. When Steve Irwin died in 2006, the then prime minister, John Howard, described it as a “huge loss” to Australia as tributes flowed in from around the world. At the time, his daughter Bindi was eight years old and his son, Robert, was not yet three. An Australia Zoo spokesman said the trio would not be at the wildlife park and were keeping their movements private on Sunday. Last week, Steve’s father, Bob, announced he had penned a memoir, which contains a touching letter Steve wrote to his parents 12 years before he died www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/sep/04/bindi-irwin-pays-tribute-to-crocodile-hunter-steve-on-10th-anniversary-of-his-deathIf you have never seen this doco - make sure you do now.
