Longest flight - Amsterdam - Singapore in 1984. Took 24 hours with all stops in between. Walk - one time the 25km airborne march www.airbornewandeltocht.nl/en/airborne/44-background_airborne_march(I was drafted in the Infantry and even a mortar platoon does a lot of 'hiking'. Luckily only carrying backpack, sleepingbag rolled up in tent half (fondly called 'berelul' (bear dick), personel weapon. At times it would seem like a hundred miles though ) Swim - a few hundred meters up and down in a swimming pool. And of course I just stayed in the water near the Causeway when I managed to capsize the Hoby Cat Driving - five or six hundred KMs from Arnhem to Frankfurt am Main. Company car, did hardly more than 200 on the autobahn

Walking - 16.6 miles (just googled between two different addresses), but I’ve walked further (but I cannot map it) Swimming/in the water – roughly 2 miles Arggghhhhh, where did I mention swimming??? !!! But now you mention it, about a mile in open water, maybe a touch more, from a coral reef of Lovina in Bali to shore. Seemed like a great idea when I set of, the water was like glass, by the time I got to shore the weather had changed and the last two hundred yards was difficult. I emerged from the water about 7.30 a.m. and terrified the locals, "It From The Deep," had arrived. My 2 mile swim – for a couple years I would travel to Key Biscayne (not far from the neighbourhood) to walk the dog (he enjoyed swimming/wading in the water/left over BBQ/the walks/attention from the sunbathers) on the weekends. While driving over I would notice different large groups of bike riders heading to the same beach. After crossing the bridge they would jump into the water and after the swim they would run. A triathlon. I think most were there doing it for exercise and not practising for an event (competition). I thought, this can’t be any big deal. I can bike ride, I can run, let’s see if I can do the swim. Early one morning I jumped in (where they start) and swim it.

I find some of these distances a bit low.....I am sure people are underestimating, I have never been a fitness guru but for a start: In 1980 I rode from Quillon in India to Cochin 138km on a Raleigh 3 speed with my then 6 year old daughter riding on the back. THere was lugage for 2 for the weekend...basic too. I am sure you can all do better. I will not mention the distances I walked when doing sampling in the North West of WA .

The unit had moved on, and left them. They weren't exactly crucial on the exercise.

Longest flight, LHR-Amsterdam-some shithole in the ME-KL-Melbourne-Adelaide, MAS, the foolishness of youth, wouldnt even attempt that today. The strangest thing about that flight was landing in the ME, aircraft surrounded by machine gun toting locals, down the steps straight onto a bus to some terminal building, then frog marched back onto a bus to take us back to the aircraft. Some Chinese guy named Jimmy Stewart (yes I shit you not) boarded at KL, he was heading for Oz, after sussing me out, he showed me photos of his daughters and asked me to take my pick, another who couldnt wait to get the hell out of Malaysia with his family and get overseas.

'you wimp'? Boy, do you have a way with words. It may surprise you, but I'm afraid I'd have to hijack the plane before they'd be willing to take a long detour before reaching Singapore. Mind you, somehow my luggage arrived one day later

Ha Ha ! I was holding my breath waiting for that. Nice flame ! ^^ You know, he has a valid point, which is unusual for him. I was in the military and I regret not serving a lot longer, however: Waltism - is a sub-branch those pathetic creatures that try to bask in the reflected glory of their relatives that served? "Me old Dad was a mechanic in the RAF, used to change the spark plugs on the planes. He won the war, you know. He and my Mum would go down the pub of a daytime and get sloshed, leaving me and my sister sitting on a kerb outside waiting for them, he was a great Dad. Funny how Mum wouldn't let me tell him about all the Uncles that visited when he wasn't 'ere." "I'm not a stalker," says the guy that got banned from a forum for stalking four times even though he was a moderator. W^nker 1st of all I have no beef/problem with you or anyone on this forum, if I did I wouldn't be here. 2nd I have never been banned from the forum, I left on my own accord and each time I rejoined was invited to be admin again, which I didn't want anymore. (Maybe you was referring to someone else on another foum, I dont know) 3rd I have never stalked anyone on a forum and never wish too, I've better things to do with my time. (again maybe you was referring to someone else) 4th Calling me a w^nker is fine, I look at it as banter and hold no grudge. I may spout out some stuff now and again, but it's with no malice intended.

Dont worry when I am appointed head of Immigration, I will make it my first duty to make sure you are given a Brit passport as an honourary Brit.

OK, this looks like fun, and I need a break from walking up and down this bloody hallway all day (have now walked about 210km since I moved into this house) Which forum were you a member of before ? And as far as this topic goes, I don't understand the question !
