Poor guy, what a way to go. ......................." A spokeswoman said it was not known whether the car was using "autopilot", Tesla's driving assistance technology"............................ I'm ok with electric cars, would love to own one myself, but these cars driven by a computer are bullshit man ! I wouldn't let my computer drive my wheelchair from the couch to the fridge.

But they would be safer than you driving after you had been to the fridge.

I would have thought trained firefighters would need to be able to handle situations where very high voltages were in the area, if they had to delay several hours it shows a severe lack of training. I am not saying that they should take excessive risk, just that they should be able to quickly evaluate, measure and respond.

I am not saying that they should take excessive risk, just that they should be able to quickly evaluate, measure and respond. Like the English version, the Dutch article talks about 'removing the body'. Haven't seen pictures but the car seemed to be totally wrecked. The Reuters article does have "De Boer said since firefighters were certain the victim had died immediately after the crash, it did not make sense for rescue workers to take unneeded risks in recovering his body." I guess with the help of Tesla experts the people from the Fire Brigade could learn a bit again and connected as we are nowadays others will profits from that if/when something similar happens. BTW about the Dutch fire brigade, not sure about now, but ten years ago about 80% (or 27,000) were volunteers. There's even a Labour Organisation for Fire Brigade Volunteers. www.brandweernederland.nl/wie_zijn_we/who-are-we/
