Isnt this the same country that exported those effin gawdawful Ozzy theme pubs with names like Walkabout or Down Under to such places such as Earls Court, bow down to your Colonial masters and accept the Queen as you head of state and your place in society, . www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-37415401

Not only am I surprised this stupid story even made it into the news, but also that we are discussing it here on this forum. Who gives a rat's ass what someone in the media thinks, and what is published on that horrible thing they call "social media". ............"Comments on social media this week criticised the restaurant's marketing material for ignoring the destructive impact of the British Empire on Australia and other countries."............... There are places in the city of Perth, WA, where you would think you are in London. Hay Street Mall in the city had an arcade called "London Court" where everything had an English flavour to it, and every second person you spoke to had an English accent. I would love to eat a meal at that restaurant, looked very nice and I bet there are no Chavs or soccer hoodlums dining there. This swapping of cultural themes between countries has been going on for generations. Nothing to see here, move along.

Don't knock the Aussie pubs in Earls Court London, at least not those in the early 70's when I lived just off Earls Court Road. The Walkabout Club, the Zambezi Club (for Saffers) and others were not only hugely popular with colonial types visiting or working in the UK but were also popular with a a lot of Poms. There was quite a waiting list for club membership. It really was a great time and place to live in London. I went back a few years later whilst on a visit and was very disappointed. The colonial types and their establishments were long gone, the place had been completely taken over by Arabs and other Middle Easterners together with their culinary outlets such as kebab shops. I don't get into pubs much these days but do admit that I like Irish themed pubs. The beer (including Guinness if you can get it) is great, I like Irish music and the food served is usually superb.

I would rather see an area taken over by kebab shops than by hipster coffee shops and cafes selling $9 cups of coffee and $25 salad sandwiches. I agree with you about Irish Pubs, I would cross a busy street to drink Guinness, good for you that stuff.

^ I have become very critical of the media these days rg, mainly because it sucks, in all forms. I have not picked up a newspaper in years, they are not worth nailing to the back of a dunny door (well actually that's all they are good for) commercial television news is crap. It is obvious they are desperate to find content so they just use anything they can find to fill the spaces. Sometimes watch the SBS news in Oz or Al Jazeera.
