I believe Mango Farms attract a lot of pests. Rats, Toads,Snakes, bats and other undesirables.

A mango farm where and what type of mangoes would you be growing? The street in my weekend place is lined with mango trees and they are biannual ones, rather nice but don't park the car under them as they attract birds and bats.

I should add, I only joined the forum to get mango advice Hi Ben, Nice to see some serious horticulturists here. Trust it was not too much a shock when you found out the Big Mango is not the dedicated sapling board you were hoping for. Wish you will still find our venue a suitable place to share your gardening stories. My own interests range from gurillia gardening, urban kitchen gardens, diverse orchards, to ancient woodlands. I once thought about taking up beekeeping, but I felt reluctant as I don't have the presumed age for it yet. My own papaya trees turned out quite a success! Cheers M. PS: Interesting radiator in your avatar. Rare to find such antiques these days.

Maybe he's a collector of vintage heaters. Yeah, why not. I try to imagine what would the annual collectors convention be like. Must be a serious logistical challenge that'd make mango farming seem like a piece of cake.

Op, Do you think it is a bit risky when neither you or your wife know bugger all about farming and even less about mangoes? I wish you both the best of luck.

If your looking into buying a farm and making it profitable you will need a good scarecrow amongst other things.
If you don't know anything about horticulture, bulk market prices and logistics it's best not to bother.

Not really, it's about holding valuable land & there's no point holding land without making it work for you. i don't actually plan on getting my hands dirty, we will employ people to do the dirty stuff. id like to have some idea of what's going on.....don't want to look vague in front of the staff. my wife is good at most things but a farmer she ain't
