Work. Family. Life. Money. Education. Obligations. Frustrations.
Lots of reasons to leave Thailand for a few months or a year.
Do you ever think that it might be your last visit?

Like anywhere there are frustrations. I have been here 10 years at times it gets on my nerves, but it is home for me and far too many reasons to stay than go.
I feel for those bitter twats that moan all the time.

To me it's a great snowbird location - once the temps go up, and the rains come down - it's time to get out.

Thailand is fun.Songkran is fun! I like Thailand.Cheap booze.Women who don't have the western figure. I head back to nannyland, sign on,fake a mental illness, do my time, save my dosh and head back. I'm a man and make my own decisions.Don't care what any one says. Family comes first and I do what is best for me.

I think about moving to the Middle East to make more money and end up quickly dismissing it. Next year I will be 30 and the reality of not having much of a nest egg is looming. Happiness or chasing the dollar. Heat says stay brain says go to somewhere hot and sandy and vacation in Thailand during Ramadan

I don't really have a choice,if i go back to Aussie, the ex witch will be following my everymove, plus my wife here is a lovely lady, and i could never leave her,i guess i really love her,she is great, sure things can shit you sometimes, but it's the same everywhere,i do like the freedom here,no political correctness, you can have a couple of beers and drive, you can park where you want, and not get a ticket, beautiful ladies, generally smiling people, good and inexpensive food, look on the bright side,i know i am a terrible one for picking all the faults in Thailand, but i am starting to think maybe i should examine the positives a little closer.

If I do leave, it's going to be one of the harder decisions I have made. Carved myself a comfortable yet modest existence in the suburbs of Bangkok. Feels like home these days because it is. Moved around the UK and the world a lot as a kid. Thailand is the first time I felt settled and giving that up, albeit to make money so I can retire here one day is a tough but common sense call. My only regret is not coming to Thailand earlier. Friendly people who mostly want to help, great food, nice weather, cheap housing and it's easy to travel about. Not much to hate,eh?

Do you care what your family thinks? What if they think Thailand isn't the best for you? By man, do you mean adult or merely Neanderthal?

I go back to the U.K. for a holiday to our farm and our family home and I feel like an alien.
I no longer fit into the country I knew, loved and still love, society has changed and not for the better either.
Noticeable that a lot of my old friends who are now retiring are opting to live outside of the U.K. due to the new aggressive society that seems to be the norm.
Local community spiritt and social life in general seems to have all but vanished these days.
No. I'll leave Thailand via the temple crem when I finally go.

Been here over two decades and a bit. Go home for 3/4 months every year. Nice part of the world I must admit. Sometimes I wonder why I come back.
No I do remember, Cricket season is over and I prefer warmer weather.
