I think it's just one of those T.I.T things.
You know where brothers aren't always brothers, but sometimes husbands; younger sisters with a large age gap are sometimes daughters; and cousins are sometimes same father different mother, but sometimes giks. Much the same as when staff take time off because their mother - who has died three times already this year alone - isn't very well again.
