I found that the ladies I met were graceful. In saying that, the majority knew foreigners in some capacity and had travelled. Travel broadens the mind, as w all know. Yes travel broadens the mind for the those Chinese girls and for us as well. Take a month off and grab the Trans China Mule Train in case you haven't the concept of just how poor that country is. I never took a train "coast to coast" but I did get a good taste of mainland China on a train. The people are more poor and diverse than I ever imagined. I realize there are civilized chunks, like the spots <Bunny boiler> mentioned, but never been there. In truth it's impossible and foolhardy to pigeonhole China, it's just too big. I know about The Fallacy of Visual Knowledge and the fact people always find what they're looking for but it's not for me, filthy, corrupt, impoverished, cruel. Sure the Chinese travelers (not shoppers) you'll meet are usually cool, but they're travelers, like you, open-minded, educated, adventurous. IMO |
