CANBERRA, Australia — The United States and Australia were close to announcing a deal in which the United States would resettle hundreds of asylum seekers banished by Australia to Pacific island camps, a newspaper reported on Friday. The U.S. had agreed to accept up to 1,800 refugees held for up to three years at Australia's expense in camps on the impoverished island nations of Nauru and Papua New Guinea, The Australian newspaper reported. That could empty the camps which have been condemned by human rights groups as a cruel abrogation of Australia's responsibilities as a signatory to the United Nations Refugee Convention. Prime Minster Malcolm Turnbull declined to comment on negotiations with the United States. www.nytimes.com/aponline/2016/11/10/world/asia/ap-as-australia-asylum-seekers.html?_r=0

Appallingly little is expended, and the refugees live in shameful squalor year after year isolated far out in the middle of no where with no exit.

If it were up to me I would send the SAS over there to "look after" the people smugglers. Would be cheaper in the long run and gets the guys out of Swanbourne barracks.

Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia there exists a tented town with all facilities in place able to accomodate up to 2 million people, it lies empty. We dont need no stinking Dawah or Zakat.

Turnbull has just announced that the deal has been done. I'm not sure Trump can (or would want) to overturn it. The details are yet to be announced but I did once read that Australia in return would take in genuine refugees at present languishing in Cenral American camps. Christian refugees in exchange for Muslims. Aussies got a good deal IMO.

I wonder if Donald Trump just added another item to his 'to do in the first 100 days' list? "Malcolm Turnbull, Peter Dutton announce refugee resettlement deal with US The United States and Australia have agreed to a one-off refugee resettlement deal for people on Manus Island and Nauru. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull confirmed the agreement this morning, following a year of negotiations. Speaking in Canberra alongside Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, Mr Turnbull said the deal would only apply to those currently on Nauru and Manus Island and not to any new asylum seeker boat arrivals." www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-13/australia-announces-refugee-resettlement-deal-with-us/8021120

Like all outgoing presidents, he'll settle a lot of business in the next ten weeks.

The ways Donald Trump and his media advisors juggle with words I'm sure someone will post on facebook about unconstitutional and illegal activities and Donald just referring to "some say"
