What do you reckon the greatest invention of all time was?
I can't decide between the printing press or penicillin.
The printing press, as it brought education to the common man.
Penicillin, for it's life changing and life saving properties. The pain, suffering, and ability to prevent premature death makes that the ultimate wonder drug.
It may well be that some of us on this forum are only alive today due to penicillin.
There's plenty of other contenders though - what do you think?

What do you reckon the greatest invention of all time was? I can't decide between the printing press or penicillin. Being pedantic, penicillin wasn't an invention but a discovery. And more important in the saving of lives than the discovery of antibiotics were the improvements in public hygiene - particular with sewerage disposal and the provision of clean water supplies.

Penicillin was a discovery. The wheel would be up yhere I guess. The wheel was an overrated invention and totally useless. The credit should go to the chap that invented the other three wheels.
