Now this is something I was unaware of.
After seeing a report on the telly saying that 3 quarters of vegetable oils contain palm oil, I had to look further into it.
Seems we the consumer, once again are being misled by unclear, even shonky labelling.
It seems palm oil doesn't fall under the banner of oils that must be included in the names of oils being blended into vegetable oil.
So from what I can see in the links below, palm oil as an ingredient has a huge list of other aka names totalling some 200 names, and even can fall under the banner of % of saturated fat therefore showing only as a number, not even a name.
Now that really is dodgy imo.

Um, there is animal fat and there is vegetable oil.
Palm plants do not have legs.
Did you read somewhere that vegetable oil is made of peas and carrots?

I like to slather a thick layer of lard all over my face and body, and then go to Big C.
I tried it with extra virgin olive oil, but it just wasn't the same.

If you buy vegetable oil, you're buying a blend of cheap oils which will probably include palm oil because it's relatively cheap. (That's why so much Thai food is fried in palm oil.)
If you want to avoid palm oil, it's simply: buy soybean oil, corn oil or (my personal favourite) sunflower oil. Maybe a little bit more expensive, but not quite so disastrous for the environment.

My wife buys EVOO from Rimping, says she doesn't like palm oil. She did some research into it and found it was cheap but not good for you. She is very wary about buying deep fried food on the street these days as the vendors are using the oil longer because of the price rises. I stopped eating anything deep fried years ago so it doesn't worry me what they eat.
