Renewal time for my travel insurance - problem is ( full disclosure, no point in making a rod for my own back ) I don't qualify for a regular policy due to being out of the UK for ten months in the past twelve.
I'm in discussion with my policy provider and there's an ( unlikely ) chance they'll make an exception.
Can you recommend any companies that would cover someone as transient as I am?

www.worldnomads.com/travel-insurance/?gclid=CNHdn56Oz9ACFdOJaAodn5MNaAWasn't there basic cover for arriving tourists when the coup started ? Basic as in very very basic because some insurers wouldn't issue policies, not sure it's still in place. EDIT Read their conditions of residency on the main page and no mention of extended absence from your home country.

Assume by travel insurance you mean medical ?...plenty of companies do this which cover you world wide, typically excluding the US, which can be added for addtional premiums
My policy is from a UK company, covers me worldwide (excluding the US) includes SOS services and repatriation if deemed required
Have google search, just dont search as travel insurance, you want international medical insurance, and dependent on the options you want, say from GPB 1k/yr upto around GBP 3k/yr in premiums
10 months on travel insurance is typically the limit as one suspects your risk profile increases after 10 months "travel" ie your more likely to have an accident and claim

Have a look at a UK crowd called " April International" this is the company i have with last 14 years, never had any issues with them, they trypically handle group insurance, ie companies, but they may do indivdual basis as well

Travel agents just usually resell the standard tourist package. Not long stayers.
