Soutpeel - thanks I don't have one, Hippity - I was intending to call an insurance agent friend when I arrive in Scotland I think they will know more than a travel agent. Travel agents just usually resell the standard tourist package. Not long stayers. Maybe in Thailand that's the case but any decent travel agent it's their business to know these things. Its what they went to college for.

In Victoria or NSW or Queensland Australia no licence or training is required to be a travel agent. Which countries and which colleges are you talking about?

And i think this is were the confusion sets in, one has to differentiate between "holiday/travel" insurance and "worldwide" medical insurance, not the same product

There's several certificates any decent, not backyard travel agent should have. Flight centre, arguably Australia's biggest travel chain won't hire any agent without going through the schooling first to get all those qualifications and it's not a week long course by a long way. Pays well also. Friends wife is on 80k a year plus endless bargain trips, but she does a few hours.

Just back from Pattaya, stent in heart, 500k baht. No medical clearance to fly, guys visa is about to run out, company going ape shit, millions of $$$$$ with no one to sign off on it. Friend back on the p**s in Pattaya, let the bean counters sort it.
Last night in some poxy bar bia on second rd,
"you are effin p**sed mate"
Some 70+ coffin dodger with his Thai/Aussie mrs in tow, trying to pour him into a taxi at 9 o'clock at night for a 2 am flight, even Somchai the taxi driver was in two minds whether to take him, the p**s stain all over the front of his pants was one giveaway.

You just never know and ICU care and multiple operations and interventions in top units soon eat up the cash.
