On the coming 31st of December we'll move from 23:59:59 to 23:59:60 (?) to 00:00:00. This time round most devices should be able to handle the extra second. In the past some devices would go tild and need a power cycling. "In Bangkok, the next leap second will occur on Sunday, 1 January 2017, 06:59:60. UTC time will be 31 December 2016, 23:59:60." Don't be afraid though "Best Practices for Leap Second Event Occurring on 31 December 2016 Best Practices for Leap Second Event Occurring on 31 December 2016 is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security’s National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center in coordination with the United States Naval Observatory, National Institute of Standards and Technology, the USCG Navigation Center, and the National Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing. This product is intended to assist federal, state, local, and private sector organizations with preparations for Saturday, 31 December 2016 Leap Second event." ics-cert.us-cert.gov/Best-Practices-Leap-Second-Event-Occurring-31-December-2016

My Rolex oyster hasn't skipped a second in nearly 40 years, and now this tomfoolery.
It's gonna be 1 second wrong FFS.
That's a big <duck>ing deal IMO.
Who can I write to?

By the sounds of things your more than 1 second wrong the last correction was in June 2015 and previous ones 2012, 2009, 2006, the correction was introduced if memory serves in 1972 and there have been something like 23 corrects prior to 2006 So your fancy bit of swiss is in fact no better than a plastic casio But yes its a big fking deal, offshore we shut down all operations that involve or rely on GPS systems for a period of 30 minutes, starting just before the correction, as if something goes wrong with GPS data/satellites we could end up having a very bad day indeed
