Is now way to busy, and way too commercial.
I first visited in 2011, and back then it was a sedate day out. Not any longer - it's a tourist crush surrounded by tacky shops and fast food places.
And it will get worse as it gets larger.
Some places need to limit numbers or the visiting experience loses all significance, this is one of them.

What about the floating nun attraction in Kanchanaburi , has it changed much ? Apart from the habikini she wears and the viscosity of the water she floats in there was not much to see or do but climb up to the monks secret hill top cave temple .There were snakes all about. If you want a truly plastic budhist experience head to Hong Kong's big Buddha , awful shame what they have done to the place.

I detest the tacky, plastic, silly tourist attractions that the Asians love so much. Did not know what I was doing when I first came to Asia and found myself in the middle of a few of them. Have since worked it out - if it's somewhere my wife and her friends love going to, I am probably better off staying at home and exercising. Not five minutes ago she "suggested" we go to the Hot Springs tomorrow, warning signs immediately sprung up and I quickly came up with an excuse not to go (hack bs bs cough) Visited the White Temple not long after it was opened to the public, very impressive but tacky all the same. Surprised they did not paint it gold with spray cans. Is the toilet block still off limits to Chinese tourists ?

It is not really a temple, wat, but an artists ego trip. If you know the artist, have spoken to him, I have, seen him spouting on Thai television, you will know he is a very shallow person. It is about as good as the Thai leaning tower. No to be fair a little more visually appealing, but kitsch non the less.

I agree.....cheap with a few bright touches...If he built that as a way to gain merit I am not sure that will work in this case. On the other hand the Black temple while less appealing is a better expression of a person's view and I hope the artist who made that will get his rewards in his next life.
