Have a friend working up in Lashio and he has no issues driving down to Mandalay and beyond- enjoy the trip! Quite a bit of the opium money is used for building fancy resorts in the middle of nowhere- well worth a drop in for lunch.

If so, what's it like?

That road is open. All the way up to Muse, in fact. What I want to do is go south to Kengtung. That's where the roadblocks will be.

Oh heavens no, not me- but a friend. They said it was nice- after a few mins they reported a very warm feeling and likened it to that nice warm half asleep feeling in the morning. My friend then reported a fuzzy head pressure that became very intense before turning into a very pleasant and calm sedative with the feeling like you were basking in the sun. Just a friends musings- not interested in trying it myself.

Joko, do you know which armies are in control of the areas you are going in. My only experience is with the Palau-stayed with them in Hsipaw and met a general in Taunggyi very briefly.Pretty chilled people but there are areas they don't want visitors in case the tea crops get damaged- I think there might be a bit more than 'tea' up in those mountains.

If you had took a football, some whisky and a few bags of crisps, you would just be able to get out of the car pass the drink and food have a quick kick around and be on your way.

As related on here, when in shock and pain I cannot describe, in hospital was given morphine, actually pure heroine, and the result I remember to this day. Bliss. Avoid or risk addiction. More recently here in Thailand, given codeine for pain relief. A milder opiate, but very addictive, especially if like me, you have an addictive trait. I stopped taking it, knew it was getting too good. Beware of opiates.

Joko, do you know which armies are in control of the areas you are going in? SSA-N = Shan State Army North UWSA = United Wa State Army As you may be aware, there was a great deal of conflict with SSAN and UWSA fighting against each other, rather than the Myanmar military. Purple line is roughly my proposed route.

Joko, I want you to go into the most dangerous area you can find mate, even if you have to smàsh your car through an army roadblock, and make a video of your rollicking adventures. Good luck!

The midgets that is, not the guerillas. Who knows what damage, both physical and mental, this guy can inflict upon them ? Knowing him he will probably make a movie of it. I wonder how it would be rated ? XXX ?
