As I was writing son came home. I have never slapped him round the head. He jumped on the bed and I said something. He apologised. There are different ways. Step son knows that too at last.

Said son is now thirty years old. I read his faceache posts. Sad to say, I am not proud. My fault? The eternal question. But just slap them round the head. Careful who you slap, they in all likelihood will slap back. No I never slapped him. Now you might say I should of. Glad to say the thought has never entered my head.

By extension you will slap your wife around the head, because you are stronger physically. Do not buy it.

Taught one kid in 7 years that was a real handful-which I regard as a good (lucky) stat. His dad was some multi-millionaire Scientologist from Canada( and f you google extension for demanding I use a capital 'S' for that cult) who plainly told his kid not to respect others as some day he would be a CEO. Sad really, kid was genuinely one of the smartest in the class but being corrupted by his parents.Kids these days,eh?
Classroom management? I'm OK in that area of teaching- I am told certain kids are 'problem kids' but don't seem to act up in my lessons. Just a matter of keeping things hands on, engaging and giving clear expectations on behavior. Not exactly rocket science.

Cannot remember the last time I saw a kid get belted by his mother in public in Australia. Probably around the same time I saw someone riding on the back of a ute, sorry, pickup.
The way things are these days if a kid did get whacked by a parent in Woolworths some asswipe would be straight on the phone reporting them to the cops, and they would be there ten times faster than they would turn up to a robbery.

You are being evasive. Straight question, would you belt your son?

Of course not buhi, the last thing I want my son to remember me for is being violent towards him. I was lucky in that I had a great Dad who I have nothing but fond memories of. Some kids are not blessed like that.

Don't be sorry. Since the Ute is an Australian invention anyone that calls it a pick up has got the name wrong and needs to be educated on that fact

"Some kids are not blessed like that"
So are they "blessed" to be belted. You were in favour of it earlier in this thread, as were some others. Pat had it right, the only comment that I agree with.

The best ute I ever saw was in Brisbane in front of a building company showroom, a royal blue Rolls Royce. It was a work ute but it was a real work of art, really well converted like it came out standard as a ute.

Instant Internet expert. In the video shown, be rest assured that not a singular procurator fiscal in Scotland would prosecute if that mother had "assaulted," and subdued that child. Not a single one. Yes, it would have started anot intervention ball rolling to examine the social and mental health of the child. The mother would have been SUPPORTED as they would regard HER AS A VICTIM OF VIOLENCE, who under Scottish law HAS THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENCE. Equally, I have witnessed examples where exasperated parents have struck their child in public in Scotland. No one bats an eye at the child being smacked on the ass, I have seen ( and agree with ) people intervening when the parent strikes the child on the face or head. It's called judgement, it's called common sense. Only an Internet loony would be of the opinion that a Scottish mother would be prosecuted for striking out at a child who was trying to repeatedly boot her in the face. You are not an Internet loony, so give it a rest.

We were on holiday in France. The last holiday with ex. There was a day camp for kids, all sorts of fun things. Both my sons signed up. First day we came back to be greeted by the police. Little emperor had lashed out at the young lady taking care of the children. I saw the bruises when I course apologised to her. He had never done anything like that to anyone before, apart from us, his parents. The circumstances in retrospect were obvious. His parents were splitting up. The holiday was an attempt to hold us all together. The next incident was the one I described when he went crazy at school. The marriage was over at that point.
